Rifleman Ryan enlisted in The Queen's Own Rifles in June 1940 when the 1st Battalion was mobilised for overseas service. He served with the Regiment in Nfld, Sussex, NB and then in England. Rifleman Ryan was in Baker Company and was one of those KIA at Bernieres-sur-mer (Juno Beach) on D-Day. -
