Grave Marker – Photo of grave marker courtesy of Carin Olofsson http://www.hembygdshistoria.se/palsjo/cw2.htm Lancaster R5663 of 61 (RAF) Sqn took part in the following Key Operations: St.Nazaire 24/25 Jun 42; Bremen 25/26 Jun 42; Bremen 29/30 Jun 42; Bremen 2/3 Jul 42; Gardenin, Denmark Strait 3/4 Jul 42-Lost. R5663 was airborne 2235 3 Jul 42 from Syerston for a mining sortie in the Nasturtium (Danish Sound) area. Hit by Flak off Helsinger, Denmark, and crashed in shallow water some 200 metres from Leberget near the Swedish port of Halsingborg. F/S G. E. Williams was thrown out on impact and he was picked up by a local vessel. The remainder of the crew were buried in Halsingborg (Palsjo) Municipal Cemetery 17 Jul 42. They are: Sgt B.Morgan RCAF; Sgt M.Caddy RAAF; RAF Sgts J.Pritchard; H.V.Turton; J.M.Raine; J.Samson (The information is from www.lostbombers.co.uk and it notes thast F/S G. E. Williams RCAF was interned. In the book They Shall Grow Not Old published by Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum, Brandon, Man. there is WO2 G. E. Williams R129379 in the list of PoWs.)
