Son of Oscar Chapdelaine and Noëlia Girouard from St-Denis, Richelieu, Québec.

Enrolled in the Régiment de St-Hyacinthe - NPAM - on 16 September 1939, regimental number 1550, he was transferred to the Royal 22e Régiment on 30 November 1939, regimental number D-41038. He arrived in Greenock, Scotland, on 18 December and was a member of the London King's Guards from 16 April to 21 April 1940. He landed in Sicily on 10 July 1943. On 3 September, he set foot in Italy. He was killed in action at the Battle of Casa Berardi.
