Born July 18, 1923 in Saint John, N.B.<br> Killed in Action in Naples, Italy<br> Buried in Naples Military Cemetary<br> John Gibbon was a Sergeant of the First Special Services Force that was composed of Canadian and American paratroopers.<pr> He left the United States for Naples, Italy. He arrived on Nov 25, 1943. Three days later, he was killed instantly during a practice firing of an anti-tank rocket launcher. The American-made weapon blew up by accident due to a badly manufactured shell in Naples, Italy. He was just 20 years old. -
