Additional information
On March 10, 1942, at 4:49 a.m., the Lady Nelson was in Port Castries harbour in St Lucia in the Caribbean when she was torpedoed by U-161, position 14°01'N/61°00'W. She sank in shallow water and was refloated. The attack caused the death of three crew members, fifteen passengers, two gunners and seven dockers.
