Flight Sergeant Hugh MacEachen had eight siblings. Four brothers: York, Campbell, Joseph Edward and Alexander MacEachen. Four sisters: Anne, Margaret, Dolores and Grace.

Telegram dated May 1, 1943 from Hugh's father which informed his three sisters, Anne, Margaret, and Dolores, who were living in Montreal at the time, of the fact that Hugh was reported missing. Hugh's other sister, Grace, was a nurse at the time.

Flight Sergeant Hugh MacEachern had four brothers: York, Campbell, Joseph Edward and Alexander MacEachern. Campbell MacEachern was in the RCAF but did not serve overseas as the war ended. Joseph Edward and Alexander both served overseas with the North Novies (North Nova Scotia Highlanders). Joseph was wounded in action and returned home at wars end.

The original pictures were supplied by the Sydney Post-Record and the booklet was compiled by Jack Wilcox, class of 1946 and Donald Trivett, class of 1947.<p>

F/Sgt. Hugh A. MacEachern, age 22, was killed on April 29, 1943, when his Wellington HZ278, of 166 Squadron, in which he was the Wireless Air Gunner, was shot down by flak and crashed in the harbour at Esberg, during a night mine-laying operation. He is buried in the Fourfelt Cemetery, Esbjerg, Jutland, Denmark.

Esbjerg is a port in south-western Jutland. ESBJERG (FOURFELT) CEMETERY is about 3 kilometres to the north of the town, off the road to Hjerting, along the Gravlundvej.
