Burial/memorial information
On June 14, 1941, at 7:12 p.m., the Regent was sailing alone on the route Baltimore, Pennsylvania, Norfolk, Virginia, and Cristobal, Venezuela, when she was hit by the last two torpedoes of U-504 and quickly sank about 200 miles (322 km) south-west of the Cayman Islands, in the Caribbean, position 17°50'N/84°10'W. The captain and ten members of his crew lost their lives. The 14 survivors were rescued by the Honduran merchant freighter Atlantida, which landed them in Burrwood, Louisiana.
