Son of David Llewellyn Jones and Rosa Elizabeth Sage of Nanaimo, British Columbia. Husband of Lydia Maud Edwards of Islington, England.

Brother of Private Leslie Edward Jones, regimental number 180077, 47th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. He fought in France in the First World War and survived.

On 4 May 1943 the Lorient, a straggler from convoy ONS-5, was torpedoed and sunk by U-125 south of Cape Farewell, Greenland, position 54°04’N/44°18’W. The master, 40 crew members and five gunners were lost.
