Burial/memorial information
Baptized Joseph-Alphée Ferlatte. Son of Jean-Baptiste « John » Ferlatte and Julie Loubert (deceased in 1917), of St-Bonaventure, Gaspésie, Québec. He is inscribed as “Alphie” Ferlatte on page 236 of the First World War Book of Remembrance
Enlisted in the 189th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he sailed for Great Britain on September 23, 1916, and landed in Liverpool, England, on October 6. Upon arrival, he was assigned to the 69th Reserve Battalion and on January 4, 1917, he transferred to the 10th Reserve Battalion. On April 17, he was transferred to the 22nd Battalion and on the 18th, he left Folkestone for France, arriving in Boulogne, Pas-de-Calais, that same day. On the 30th, he joined his new unit on the front line in the Acheville sector. He was killed in action on July 23, 1917, during the Battle of Lens, Pas-de-Calais, on Hill 70, near Cité St-Pierre.

AIX-NOULETTE COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION Pas de Calais, France
Aix-Noulette is a village in the Department of the Pas-de-Calais, about 13 kilometres south of Bethune on the main road to Arras. From Arras take the D937 towards Bethune. At Aix-Noulette, turn right at the church. The Communal Cemetery and Extension are a few hundred metres on the left side of the road to Bully-Grenay.
