Brother of Flight Sergeant Ford Ross Carruthers, R-96134, who lost his life in action on June 6, 1942 in Duisburg, Germany, while serving with No. 12 Squadron RAF.
He had service in Canada and Great Britain. He had 620 days of service, including 339 days overseas.

Apeldoorn is a town in the province of Gelderland, lying about 40 kilometres east of Amersfoort and 24 kilometres north of Arnhem. Ugchelen, where the cemetery is situated, is about 5 kilometres south of Apeldoorn. The APELDOORN (UGCHELEN-HEIDEHOF) GENERAL CEMETERY is east of the village, on the road to Beekbergen. The Commonwealth plot is on the north-western side of the entrance.
