Son of William Mead Lindsley and Beulah Fiske II. He was educated at Cambridge. He piloted the US Olympic bobsled team to gold medals in 1928 and 1932. In 1938, he married Rose Bingham, the former Countess of Warwick. He lost his life in air combat over the southern part of England on August 17, 1940, during the height of the Battle of Britain.
