He was a gunner with the 17th Field Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery – NPAM – service No. 2004 replaced by No. 1855, then No. H-407025, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, from July 19, 1940, to April 9, 1941.
He served in Canada and Britain. He died following an engine failure during take-off. He crashed not far from the runway. He had 713 days of service, 199 of which were overseas.
1939-1945 Star, Europe Star, Defence Medal, General Service Medal and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Bar.
