Son of George Gordon and Marion Blanche Laird, of Westmount, Province of Quebec, Canada. Flying Officer Laird worked for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce before joining the RAF. He was the brother of Douglas, Howard and Margaret(Peggy) Laird Grafton.
