Newspaper Clipping – The Toronto Star, February 27, 1945, page 5 Additional information re tragic mid-air crash: On the night of Mary 27/28, 1944, the crew of Halifax III LV-831 in 427 Squadron were among a force of 117 Halifaxes and 32 Lancasters from 6 Group sent on an attack of the military camp at Bourg Leopold. All were killed after colliding with MZ-295 of 429 Squadron, both machines crashing at Baisy-Thy (Brabant), 2 km SSE of Genappe, Belgium. P/O Patience and three other crew members are buried in the Heverlee War Cemetery. The RCAF crew are: P/O (N) Norman D. L. Stephenson, age 20, from Vancouver, B.C. P/O (BA) Roy Douglas Ford, age 23, from Stratford, Ont. P/O (WAG) John Francis Brown, age 23, from Thorold, Ont. The pilot, P/O Frank G. Devereaux, age 22, from Seaforth, Ont. is buried in the Baisy-Thy Communal Cemetery, Brabant, Belgium.
