Location:

Sains en Amienois is a commune in the Department of the Somme some 8 kilometres south of Amiens. When in Sains en Amienois take the road on your right before the church, and the cemetery is located a little further on your right. The war graves are situated within the area of the French military plot.

  • Wartime Diary– This entry (April 1, 1918) from Sgt. Frank E. Water's war diary describes the funeral service for Lieutenant Knox.
  • Memorial– Commemorative stained glass window dedicated to Lt Knox in St. James Anglican Church, Orillia, ON.
Dedication reads: "To the glory of God and in loving memory of Lt. J Harry Knox, 2nd B'n Can. R'ly. Troops. Killed in action. Amiens, France, March 30th, 1918." Greater love hath no man  than this, that a man down his life for his friends."

  • Building– The Soldiers' Tower was built at University of Toronto between 1919-1924 in memory of those lost to the University in the Great War. Funds were raised by the Alumni Federation, now called the University of Toronto Alumni Association. The name of "Lt. J. H. KNOX 2nd C.R.T." is among the 628 names carved on the Memorial Screen, seen at photo left. Photo: K. Parks, Alumni Relations.
  • Inscription– Inscription in Memorial Room, Soldiers' Tower. The carillon was installed and dedicated in 1927.  Originally there were 23 bells. Alumni and friends donated funds for carillon bells in memory of those who fell in the Great War. Dedications are carved high on the walls of the Memorial Room. Bell XIV is dedicated: "In memory of the members of Delta Kappa Epsilon who gave their lives in the Great War 1914-1918".
