Brother of Senior Airman Thomas Rees, regimental number 528427, Royal Air Force serving on the aircraft carrier HMS Glorious (77), Royal Navy, sunk by guns in the North Sea on June 8th, 1940 by the German battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau. He died of his wounds on the 10th.
Served in Manitoba, Jamaica with Y Force, Hong Kong with C Force and Japan as a prisoner of war. He had 2,008 days of service, including 1,234 overseas.
To commemorate his sacrifice, the Manitoba government named Rees Lake located south of Shethanei Lake in his honor in 1974.
