30.12.41 Miles M.9A Master I T8567 55 O.T.U. Usworth 407758 Sgt Leonard Douglas Wright RAAF pilot (K), J8814 P/O Arthur Raymond Kirby RCAF pilot (K) Aircraft was involved in a mid-air collision with Master N8076 and then crashed on the Ford Housing Estate, Sunderland, Co Durham. The occupants of the other Miles Master were also killed 14227 Sgt William Gilbert Bothe RAAF pilot (K), 407454 Sgt Peter Morphett Piggott RAAF pilot (K). By great fortune no one on the ground was even injured as one aircraft crashed into a street and the other crashed into the garden of a house -
