Born 30 July 1885 in Tilburg, Holland. Son of the late John C. and Anna Maria Schollen of Long Beach, California, U.S.A. Brother of Mr. J. C. Schollen of Vancouver, British Columbia, Mrs. G. Godden and Mrs. T.J. Dietrick both of San Pedro, California. Father of Peter Cornelius, Frank, and Wilhelminia. Warrant Officer II Schollen enlisted in Cranbrook, British Columbia on 28 June 1940. He left after a months`s service to service with the Canadian Dutch Legion, who fought in the East Indies. Returning to Canada in 1942 and being remustered into the Canadian Army, where he served as interpreter with the Veterans Guard at Lethbridge and Medicine Hat Prisoner-of-War Camps. He spoke English, French, German and Dutch fluently.
