Son of Amos and Mary Dent of Allendale, Northumberland, England. Brother of George, Nichols and Margaret. Husband of Elizabeth Ann Dent of Calgary, Alberta and father of Melva Leslie Tubman and Private Melvin Wallace Pearson Dent, 49th Battalion, killed in action 9 October 1916. Private Dent also enlisted for service in the First World War. He was discharged due to being medically unfit.
