He was born as Angus Arley Clark. Son of George Wilson Clark and Mary Euphronia Huston, of Carman. Brother of Private Albert George Clark, Regimental Number H-3524, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, Company B, killed in action May 23, 1944 at Cassino, Italy, and Trooper Cecil Scott Clark, Regimental Number H-363, Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians), 2nd Armoured Regiment, killed in action January 21, 1945 at Argenta, Italy.
Arlie served with the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada - NPAM - regimental number H-510027, from October 8 to November 7, 1940, then with the 1st Battalion Winnipeg Grenadiers to fight in Hong Kong with C Force and as a prisoner of war in Japan. He had 1,836 days of service, including 1,443 overseas.
