Medal
According to his Attestation papers, Fred Russell Andrews was a son of Capt. James Andrews of 474 8th St. East, Owen Sound, Ontario in 1914. Born on July 1, 1885, Fred had some previous military experience in the militia, three years with the 31st Grey Regiment and 1 year with the 96th Regiment (Lake Superior). In 1914 he was an unmarried forest ranger and enlisted at Victoria, B.C. -

LILLERS COMMUNAL CEMETERY Pas de Calais, France
Lillers is a small town about 15 kilometres west-north-west of Bethune and the, LILLERS COMMUNAL CEMETERY lies to the north of the town. From the Mairie in the centre of the town, head north on the D182, after 500 metres turn right onto Rue St. Venant. The cemetery is a further 200 metres on the left hand side. The Commonwealth burials are at the far end of the communal plot.
