Son of James Douglas and Margaret Krausgrill, of The Rose and Crown, East Holborn, South Shields, Durham, England.

On May 1, 1917, after setting sail from Rouen, France, she was torpedoed 26 miles (42 km) west-north-west of Boulogne, France, in the English Channel, by UB-18 and sunk, position 50°27'N01°04'E. Three sailors lost their lives.
