Son of Owen and Mary Donnelly, of Altaglushan, Cappagh, Pomeroy, Co. Tyrone, Ireland. Formerly an employee of Hudson`s Bay Store in Calgary, Alberta and while on visit to his former home in Tyrone, Ireland. While visiting he was overwhelmed with the work being done for the recruits, he offered his services as Engine Room Artificier and was sent to one of the battle ships of the Fleet in the Irish Sea.
