Brother of Lance Corporal Oswald Raymond Goodyear, Royal Newfoundland Regiment, killed in action 12 October 1916 and Lieutenant Stanley Charles Goodyear, Royal Newfoundland Regiment, killed in action 10 October 1917, Roland, Harold Kenneth and Daisy (also known as Kate).

Source: The Roll of Honour of the Ontario Teachers Who Served in the Great War 1914-1918 (The Ryerson Press: Toronto, 1922). The 1914-1918 Roll of Service for Ontario Teachers contains 851 names. 101 died as a result of their military service. Le Quesnel is a village half-way between the towns of Roye and Boves and is just north of the main straight road from Noyon to Amiens. HILLSIDE CEMETERY is 3 kilometres north-east of the village on the north-west side of the road to Caix.
