Baptized Joseph-Pierre-Wilfrid Lessard. Son of Marie-Anne Gélinas (deceased in 1907) and Hormisdas Lessard (remarried in 1908 to Marie-Anne-Alzéma Charette), of Shawinigan-Falls, Mauricie, Québec. He had declared to be born in 1895 when he enlisted.
