John enlisted into the C.E.F. at Victoria BC on April 30th 1918, he listed his occupation as "Ships Carpenter"  John died on Aug. 30th 1918 at age 24 during the Spanish Flu panademic of 1918-19. He was laid to rest in the Mountain View cemetery of Vancouver BC.
