Grave of 2020493 Corp. Samuel Earl Staples who served with the 1st Depot Regt. of British Columbia.
Born in Hamilton Ontario on Nov. 17th 1896. He enlisted into the C.E.F. at Vancouver BC on Dec. 27th 1917 he listed prior service of two years (1915-16) with the Royal North West Mounted Police at Regina. He listed his occupation as "School Teacher" Samuel died during the Spanish Flu panademic of 1918-19 on Oct. 29th 1918 just 19 days short of his 22nd birthday. He was laid to rest in the Mountain View cemetery of Vancouver BC.
