He enlisted into the C.E.F. at Vancouver BC on Dec. 27th 1917 he listed prior service of two years (1915-16) with the Royal North West Mounted Police at Regina. He listed his occupation as "School Teacher" Samuel died during the Spanish Flu panademic of 1918-19 on Oct. 29th 1918 just 19 days short of his 22nd birthday. He was laid to rest in the Mountain View cemetery of Vancouver BC.
