Son of Alexandre Boulay and Exilda Millette (deceased in 1879) of Nashua, New Hampshire. His father Alexandre married Nancy Martel in 1881.
Husband of Isméria Ledoux of St-Hyacinthe, Quebec and father of four children.
He stated that he was born in Canada in order to enlist.
He was severely wounded in the head in May 1918 and was released six months later due to his severe injuries.
He died of meningitis that was attributed to his war wounds.
His step-brother Éli was killed in action in July 1918 while serving with the American Army.
