Northern Advance newspaper article from Sept. 7, 1916 references the death of (mis-spelled) Abbel as the ambulance that he and Pte. Ernest Hanmer of Barrie, Ontario were driving on June 3, 1916 at the Battle of Mount Sorrel. This article has a picture of Pte. Ernest Hanmer who was later killed on Oct. 28, 1918. This article should appear under both Pte. Abell's and Pte. Hanmer's Virtual Memorials
