Baptized Joseph-François-Xavier-Deligny Lambert. Son of Georges Lambert (deceased in 1902) and Elmira Lafrenière (deceased in 1892). He stated being born in 1888 and declared his father (deceased) as his next-of-kin.
Enlisted in the 22nd Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he sailed for Great Britain on May 20, 1915, and arrived in Plymouth, England, on the 29th. On September 15, he crossed the English Channel and landed in Boulogne, Pas-de-Calais, that same day. From May 23, 1916, to September 19, 1917, he was seconded to the 5th Canadian Brigade Band. Upon returning to his unit on the 20th, he was sent to the front lines. In Frameries, Belgium, he was rushed to the 14th Canadian Field Ambulance, where he died the same day after drinking a large quantity of wood alcohol. His death was ruled accidental. Also killed were his drinking companions, soldiers Fred Major, serial number 416981, and Pierre Lemelin, serial number 672302.
