Lindsay was a Canadian Bank of Commerce employee and his story was covered in their roll of honour, as follows: LINDSAY, William Simpson - Private. Born 3rd January, 1893, at Huron Township, Ontario, Canada. Father, William Lindsay, Farmer. Educated at Huron Township, School Section No. 15, and Walkerton High School. Entered the service of the Bank, 1st September, 1909. Enlisted, 27th February, 1916, from Peterboro branch, in 59th Canadian Battalion, with the rank of Private. Transferred to 12th Reserve Battalion, England, 8th April, 1917; 75th Canadian Battalion, France, 23rd April, 1917. Service: with Canadian Pay and Records Branch in London, England for one year; two months in France. Wounded while returning from scout duty at night, 7th June, 1917. Died of Wounds at Le Treport General Hospital, France, 11th June, 1917" (Source: Letters from the Front, Vol. II, 1920, p. 258).
