He was the husband of Millicent Wolferstan MacInnes, of The Ridge, Camberley, Surrey. He served with the Royal Engineers, Inspector of Mines, G.H.Q., 1st Echelon. He was awarded a Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George; the Distinguished Service Order. Order of St. Stanislas, 1st Class (Russia); and Officer of The Legion of Honour (France). He died on 23 May 1918. He was buried in the Etaples Military Cemetery in Pas de Calais, France.

Brigadier General Duncan Sayre Macinnes DSO, CMG died on May 23, 1918. He graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada in 1891, winning the sword of honour in 1891 and the Governor-General gold medal. He is remembered at RMC on the Memorial Arch, and the memorial stairwell.

ETAPLES MILITARY CEMETERY Pas de Calais, France
Etaples is a town about 27 kilometres south of Boulogne. The Etaples Military Cemetery is to the north of the town, on the west side of the road to Boulogne.
