Private Forbes James Amos
Forbes James Amos was the son of William Amos and Margaret Ann McMeeken. Forbes was born in Holstein, Egremont Twp., Grey County, Ontario, Canada on July 6, 1892.
Forbes enlisted in the 33rd Battalion CEF on January 25, 1915 in Chatham, Ontario and after completion of training in England, was transferred to the 4th CMR in France on May 25, 1916. Forbes participated in the battle of Mount Sorrel at Ypres and at the battle of Somme where he was wounded in the attack on Regina Trench on October 1, 1916. Forbes succumbed to his wounds on October 11, 1916.<P>
Forbes was one of six grandchildren of James McMeeken and Elizabeth McClinton to serve in the First World War. His five cousins who also served are George Elmer McMeeken (248th), Vance McMeeken (119th, 2nd MMGB), Roy McMeeken (U.S. Navy), Roy George Henry M.M. (51st, 7th), and Walter Henry (147th, 4th CMR).

Obituary Notice - Chatham Daily Planet ' October 14, 1916
A subsequent newspaper article in the Chatham Daily News dated November 1, 1916 reported on a memorial service held for several local men and quoted Forbes from a letter written to his mother 'I must tell you now, dear mother, that I have taken your advice, and if anything happens to me, it is all right.'

ST. SEVER CEMETERY, ROUEN Seine-Maritime, France
The St. Sever Cemetery and Extension (Rouen) is situated about 3 kilometres south of Rouen Cathedral and a short distance west of the road from Rouen to Elbeuf. If travelling from Elbeuf or Caen on the N.138, follow Avenue Des Canadiens right down to the roundabout. Then take the fourth exit into Rue Stanislas De Jardin, and the cemetery lies 150 metres on the left. The CWGC signpost is located at the entrance of the cemetery.
