Baptized Eugène Lamoureux. Son of Joseph-Irénée Lamoureux and Rose-de-Lima Charbonneau and husband of Maria Robin-dit-Lapointe; all of Montréal, Québec. He had declared his birth on the 21st at the time of his enrolment and was the father of five children. His wife remarried in 1920 to George Dubois of St Catharines, Ontario.
Enlisted in Company A of the 41st Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he sailed for Great Britain on May 20, 1915, and landed in Plymouth, England, on the 29th. On February 29, 1916, he was assigned to the 23rd Reserve Battalion and crossed the English Channel on April 15, at which time he was transferred to the 22nd Battalion that same day. He set foot in France that same day at Boulogne, Pas-de-Calais. He joined his new unit in combat on May 6.
Seriously wounded in the arm and neck on April 27th, 1917, near the village of Vimy, he was evacuated to Casualty Clearing Station No. 23 at Lozinghem and died of his wounds there a week later.
Grandfather of Flight Cadet Joseph George Richard Lamoureux who died on November 3, 1954, while serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force.

LAPUGNOY MILITARY CEMETERY Pas de Calais, France
Lapugnoy is a village and commune in Pas-de-Calais, 6 kilometres west of Bethune.
From the centre of Lapugnoy, head south-west on the D70 in the direction of Marles-les-Mines. On the outskirts of the centre there is a crucifix at the side of the main road, turn right here towards Allouagne. After approximately 500 metres there is a track on the left hand side (the Cemetery is signposted here) and the LAPUGNOY MILITARY CEMETERY can be found on the left hand side, approximately 500 metres, along this track.
