He held the rank of Major in Canadian Permanent Forces, but reverted to Lieutenant in order to get to the Front. He served with the Royal Canadian Dragoons (1st Armoured Regiment). He died 20 Mar 1918. He was buried in the Moreuil Communal Cemetery in the Somme, France.
