Private Clarence Gibson
Clarence Gibson grew up on the family farm at Laird (near Sault Ste. Marie), Ontario. He gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country on April 4, 1917 at the age of 21. "They went with songs to battle, they were young. Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted. They fell to their faces to the foe. They shall not grow old, as we are left to grow old. Age shall not weary them: nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them."
