(From Stanstead College Yearbook, July 1919) Norman E. Planche, enlisted August 10th 1914, in the 14th Battalion, Royal Montrela Regiment, as a private. He went into training with the rest of the First Canadian Expeditionary Force at Valcartier. In November he sailed for England and was training at Salisbury Plain until February 1915 when he landed in France. Norman went through the first battle of Ypres and the battle of Langemark. In the battle of Festubert, May 20th 1915, he was killed in action. He was buried in the Military Cemetery at Bethune, France. -
