Son of William and Katie Frew, of Grand Falls, Newfoundland. Pte Frew enlisted at age 18 and a quarter. He was single and stated his occupation was that of a civil engineer. He was recuited on 9 March 1916, embarked St. John's on 19-7-1916, landed at the front and joined the battalion (1st Newfoundland Regiment) on 22 October 1916, and was discharged 14 April 1917 (his date of death).
