Son of Henry Harold Dicks and Susanna Anderson, of Burgeo, Newfoundland. Husband of Mrs Henri Dicks, of Burgeo.

 

On April 3, 1918, the Elsie Burdett sailed the North Atlantic from Oporto, Portugal, bound for Burgeo, Newfoundland. This sailing schooner was intercepted by U-152, which sank her in position 44°38'N/24°28'W. The six crew members found refuge in a lifeboat that was never seen again.
