Location:

The United Nations Cemetery is located in Tanggok, a suburb of Busan. The land for the cemetery was granted to the United Nations by the Republic of Korea as a tribute to all those who had laid down their lives in combatting aggression and in upholding peace and freedom. There are 2,267 servicemen buried in the United Nations Memorial Cemetery. Of these 1,538 were Commonwealth soldiers, including 376 Canadians.

  • Inscription– Private JAMES RUSSELL ALLEN is one of 23 soldiers commemorated on this panel of  the Korean War Monument in Ottawa and one of the 516 soldiers whose names appear on the monument.  It was erected  IN LOVING MEMORY OF THE CANADIANS WHO DIED IN SERVICE DURING THE KOREAN WAR 1950-1953 AND ON KOREAN PEACE KEEPING DUTIES, 1953-1957.  Private Allen died on October 23, 1952 and is buried in the UNITED NATIONS CEMETERY (BUSAN) South Korea
