Son of Johnny Bolduc and Florida Gilbert from Saint-Georges, Beauce, Québec.

On 23 November 1951, D Company of the First Battalion of the Royal 22e Régiment was attacked by two Chinese companies. The attacks continued throughout the night and late into the morning of the 24th. Bolduc was finally killed in action on hill 355.

Location:

The memorial is located in the United Nations Cemetery in Tanggok, a suburb of Busan. The stone memorial with bronze panels was erected to commemorate commonwealth soldiers who died and whose burial places are unknown. Twenty one Canadians are listed on the bronze plaques.

This features a Canadian soldier, facing toward Busan, Korea, where an identical monument watches over the graves of 378 Canadians in the United Nations Memorial Cemetery. Accompanying the volunteer are two Korean children, both holding symbols: the girl, a bouquet of maple leaves symbolizing Canada; and the boy, a bouquet of maple leaves and roses of Sharon, the national flower of Korea.

  • Korean War Monument– Private MARC ANDRE BOLDUC is one of 23 soldiers commemorated on this panel, and is one of the 516 soldiers whose names appear on the Korean War Monument in Ottawa.  It was erected IN LOVING MEMORY OF THE CANADIAN WHO DIED IN SERVICE DURING THE KOREAN WAR 1950-1953 AND ON KOREAN PEACE KEEPING DUTIES, 1953-1957. Private BOLDUC died on November 24, 1951.  Eleven other Canadian soldiers were killed that day, including Acting Corporal CONSTANT BOSSÉ and Private JOSEPH VICTORIN BOUDREAU, whose names also appear on this panel.  The burial place of Private Bolduc is unknown, hence he is commemorated on the COMMONWEALTH MEMORIAL (BUSAN), South Korea.

Privates ROLAND DALLAIRE and JOSEPH LOUIS PHILIPPE  ISABELLE of the Royal 22nd, Private EDWARD JACK  HANSPIKER  of the PPCLI and Sapper LEONARD ARTHUR  WATSON Royal Canadian Engineers were killed on November 23rd and Private  HENRI  LACHANCE of the Royal 22nd and Private RAYMOND CHESTER  ENOS of the PPCLI were killed on November 25th.
