Newspaper clipping – From the Perth Courier for 20 April 1900, page 7, describing the burial of those who died on 18 February at Paardeberg.

Monument – A bronze statue and stone shaft in Confederation Park, 123 Laurier Avenue West, Ottawa, ON is a monument to the Ottawa volunteers who died in the South African War. Made by the sculptor, Hamilton MacCarthy, it was installed here in 1969, after several moves. Its original location was near the old City Hall which used to stand on Elgin Street. Some believe that the model for the soldier was the sculptor's son, Coeur de Lion MacCarthy, who made many of the carvings for the Centre Block.
