Baptized Joseph-Jean-Baptiste-Albert Martin-dit-Beaulieu. Son of Étienne Martin-dit-Beaulieu and Joséphine Gagnon (deceased in 1902), of Québec. He stated being born on 1 April 1894 when he enlisted.

Albert was severely wounded to the chest at Vimy, on 12 May 1917, he was repatriated and later released as disabled after ten months in hospital. He died of pneumonia caused by his military service.
