Cst. Ng learned to read and write in Chinese and spoke Mandarin and Cantonese. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, scuba diving, and boating. He also played soccer and hockey. After taking a 4 year course in Food Science at the University of British Columbia, he worked for Brights Winery. He also served as a firefighter with the Okanagan Falls Volunteer Fire Department and became a member of the search and rescue ski patrol. Cst. Ng served at Duncan and Richmond detachments in BC. He was responding to a call for service when his police car was t-boned by a suspected street racer. There is an annual hockey tournament in Cst. Ng's honour to raise funds for different programs and events.
