Insp. McCombe was originally from Belfast and worked for the Royal Irish Constabulary. He came to Canada in 1925. Most of Insp. McCombe’s service was in Saskatchewan however he did have a posting in Charlottetown as well as Ottawa. Insp. McCombe received his commission in 1950. He died from exposure while on patrol near Cutknife, Saskatchewan. He had a wife, Annie and three sons. One of his sons, H. Barry McCombe joined the Force and retired as a staff sergeant in 1994. Insp. McCombe is buried in the Cemetery at Depot.
