Cst. Bloomfield served at Rockcliffe and at several detachments in Manitoba. The boat that Cst. Bloomfield and his partner Cst. Sander were in struck one of the piers of the bridge which caused the boat to cave in and flip over. Both constables were thrown into the water. Cst. Bloomfield was posted at Swan River Detachment when he died. He is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon.
