Medals and Memorials
The surviving effects and medals and memorials of Pte. John James Coulter. Of interest the 1914-15 Star, British War and Victory medals and Canadian Memorial Cross. The later housed in its original presentation case with 1920's circa Poppy. 4th Battalion Cap badge, collars. A small collection of lockets and pins kept by John's wife that includes a severed half of a ' British one penny' , with small hole for chain. The other half would have been kept by John, as a sentimental symbol of their relationship. John's personality is highlighted here by a comical strip of photo's of himself wearing a variety of headgear. (from donors collection) -
