Richard H. Davenport CD

Mr. Davenport is a Canadian Armed Forces Veteran. He has been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 53 years, and his dedication to serving Veterans has led him to serve in a variety of Executive Committee positions at Branch 164 in Powell River from sergeant-at-arms to entertainment chairperson. In 1980, Mr. Davenport transferred to the West Vancouver Branch and has also served on its Executive Committee as cadet liaison chairman, zone representative, treasurer, secretary, Honours and Awards chairperson, Building and Grounds Committee chairperson and vice-president, as well as two terms as president. He is an active volunteer for meat draws and he helps out during Veterans’ luncheons. Mr. Davenport has also served at the zone level, where he organized drill, order and protocol courses for sergeants-at-arms, served as parade commander for a number of events, acted as director of the North Shore Housing Society, and served two terms as commander of the North Shore and Howe Sound Zone. At the British Columbia and Yukon Command of the Royal Canadian Legion, Mr. Davenport has served as deputy chair of the Public Relations Committee, deputy chair of the Unity Committee, Parade Marshal at conventions, and as a member of the Provincial Executive Council. Outside of the Legion, Mr. Davenport continues to serve his community. He has been a member of the Irish Fusiliers Regimental Association for 45 years. He has been a member of the Vancouver Naval Veterans Association and served as the Master-at-Arms and was also a member of the Air Force Association of Canada. He was an executive member of the Vancouver Squadron of the Royal Naval Sailing Association and served on the Executive of the Canadian Mariners Ship Society.
