Commemorative ceremony at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum to mark the 85th anniversary of Battle of Britain. The Battle of Britain was a crucial conflict during the Second World War, where Canadian pilots played a significant role in defending the United Kingdom against the German Luftwaffe. This battle, fought from July to October 1940, marked the first major defeat of Nazi military forces. The bravery and skill of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) pilots were instrumental in securing victory, showcasing Canada's vital contribution to the Allied war effort.

We begin with a screening of the acclaimed documentary: The Fruit Machine This film captures the harrowing truth of the “LGBT Purge,” where from the 1950s to the mid-1990s, 2SLGBTQI+ members of the Canadian Armed Forces, the RCMP, and the federal public service were systematically discriminated against, interrogated, and often dismissed from service — a sanctioned practice that left lifelong scars.

United together to honour soldiers of suicide

See the faces of the unremembered in this sunset ceremony at the National Military Cemetery of Canada. Join the families and friends of the soldiers or veterans who gave their lives in service. Unite with us to open the conversation on the stigma of suicide in the military, RCMP and OPS as we share in remembrance. This service will help connect one another through healing and understanding.

This year we are adding RCMP, OPP and OPS to the ceremony.

Step into history with the launch of Echoes of Valour, a new evening series hosted at the National Military Cemetery. These evenings bring to life the stories, sacrifices, and traditions that have shaped Canada’s military legacy.

Join us at Beechwood Cemetery, the National Cemetery of Canada, where the RCMP Veterans - Ottawa Division will hold the Annual Police and Peace Officers Memorial Service — a solemn and respectful gathering to honour those who have served and sacrificed in the line of duty.

This year's ceremony will include a special plaque unveiling commemorating RCMP Commissioners French, Perry, and MacBrien—recognizing their leadership and historical significance in the force’s evolution.

Beechwood Cemetery is honoured to host the powerful and internationally acclaimed exhibition “Anne Frank – A History for Today” at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre from October 18 to 20, 2025. This initiative is presented in partnership with the Anne Frank House, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and Beechwood, the National Cemetery of Canada, as part of our shared commitment to remembrance, education, and the promotion of human rights.
